The Education Results Partnership has selected Mayflower and Plymouth Elementary Schools to receive statewide recognition. These two schools received the Star Award as successful schools based on high academic achievement. The statewide partnership also recognizes districts and has named the Monrovia Unified School District a Star Award recipient.

Due to budgetary constraints and student enrollment, as part of the Fiscal Stabilization Plan, the two middle schools will be consolidated and merged in the 2026-2027 school year. We are collecting your input as part of the process to determine the path forward during this time of change. The district held two in-person meetings at both middle schools this week and one virtual meeting today. The next in the series of meetings will be held virtually, at this link, on Monday at 6:00 p.m. The final meetings will be held on Tuesday, October 28th: Santa Fe at 12:00 p.m. in the Library and Clifton at 5:30 p.m. in the Auditorium.

Monrovia Schools have attained an excellent credit rating and the experts are applauding the district for its "prudent fiscal practices."

Monrovia CA (October 2025)  – Monrovia Unified School District is excited to share that student results for the English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC) and California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) are now available. These assessments provide important information about how your child is progressing in English language development and in key academic areas like English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science.

Monrovia Unified School District proudly celebrated the reclassification of more than 90 students as proficient English learners at the September 24th Board of Education meeting. This milestone marks one of the largest groups of reclassified students in district history, underscoring Monrovia Unified’s commitment to ensuring every student has the tools to succeed academically and linguistically.

Monrovia, CA – Dr. Heather Povinelli is an LA County Teacher of the Year! She received the award from the Monrovia Unified School District earlier and now, she was also named as a Teacher of the Year from the LA County Office of Education. Historically, there have been about 70 district teachers of the year, with a select few named as County Teachers of the Year.

Mountain Park Senior Madeline Avila will serve as a student member of the board of directors.

Parents and employees are thrilled with the new district direction to provide all students at all schools with free meals. The menu is shifting as well - toward more items made from scratch. And NEW - Farm to School -more locally grown fruits and veggies.

Congratulations to Dr. Heather Povinelli - This morning, KNBC TV celebrated her with this live news story. Last week, she was named as a county-wide Teacher of the Year by the LA County Office of Education. (That's in addition to being awarded at the district level!) Povinelli teaches second grade at Bradoaks Elementary Science Academy in Monrovia.
