District Advisory Committee (DAC) & District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC)

The District Advisory Committee (DAC) and the District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC) provide valuable opportunities for parents to advise our district on services for students. The responsibilities of each of these advisory committees are described below. DAC Requirements and Responsibilities
  • Majority of members are parents of students in the district
  • Membership includes parents of students who are English Learners, participate in special education, in foster care, or qualify for free/reduced meals
  • Provide advice to the superintendent and school board for development and review of the LCAP (Our DAC serves as the Parent Advisory Committee, as described in California Education Code Sections 52063 and 52069)
 
DELAC Requirements and Responsibilities 
  • Majority of members are parents of English learners in the district
  • Provide advice to the superintendent and school board on the following tasks:
    • Development or revision of a district master plan of education programs and services for English learners, taking into consideration the Single School Plan for Student Achievement
    • Conducting a district-wide needs assessment on a school-by-school basis
    • Establishment of district programs, goals, and objectives for programs and services for English learners (e.g., parental exception waivers and funding)
    • Development of a plan to ensure compliance with any applicable teacher and instructional aide requirements
    • Administration of the annual language census (e.g., procedures and forms)
    • Review and comment on the district's reclassification procedures.
  • Review and comment on the written notifications required to be sent to parents and guardians
  • Review and comment on the development or annual update of the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP). (Our DELAC acts as the English Learner Parent Advisory Committee under California Education Code Sections 52063(b)(1) and 52062(a)(2))
