MUSD Expanded Learning Programs

Dear Monrovia Families,

Thank you for your interest in the MUSD Expanded Learning Programs. We provide a safe, empowering, and engaging learning environment for all stakeholders in our Before and After School Programs.

We serve students in Before and After School programs at Bradoaks, Clifton, Mayflower, Monroe, Plymouth, Santa Fe, and Wild Rose. We are committed to providing educational programs and activities which foster the development of each student’s:

  • Academic potential
  • Talents, skills, and interests through enrichment
  • Social and emotional needs
  • Youth development
  • Physical activity and nutrition needs

The Expanded Learning Program is designed to support the learning opportunities during your child’s regular school day. Our educational and literacy components include homework assistance in core subjects such as language arts and math. Our academic enrichment activities are content-rich, engaging, and aligned with state and local content standards. We also provide students with nutritious snacks and physical activities that meet the guidelines outlined in Education Code 49430.

The program is funded through an ASES (After School Education and Safety) Grant with specific attendance requirements. These attendance requirements are an essential component of the program. Please refer to the Student-Parent Handbook for more information.Through experience, we know that students benefit most from their after-school experience when they participate regularly, engage in authentic learning activities, and build positive relationships with other students and staff members.
