Developer Fees

Section 17620 of the California Education Code authorizes school districts to collect fees on new residential and commercial construction within their respective boundaries. Monrovia Unified School District's current fee levels under this Section are $4.79 per square foot of residential development and $.78 per square foot of commercial/industrial development.

These fees are collected to fund the construction of school facilities necessitated by the impact of residential and commercial development activity. Developer fees can also be used to reconstruct school facilities to accommodate students generated from new development projects. Fees are collected immediately before the building permit is issued by the City of Monrovia or the County of Los Angeles.

Fees can be paid to the Business Service Department by check or cashier's check. Cash, debit, or credit cards are not accepted. Checks/cashiers checks are payable to Monrovia Unified School District located at 325 E. Huntington Dr. Monrovia, CA 91016, between the hours of 8 am - 4 pm.
