Dear Monrovia Unified Community,

As we continue to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week, I wanted to acknowledge our parents for their dedication to their children’s education while we work through distance learning and finish the 2019-20 school year.

When the news about student dismissal came to light, there was no time to prepare for the challenges ahead. We launched our Distance Learning Platform the Monday after school was dismissed.

Estimada comunidad del Distrito Unificado de Monrovia,

A medida que continuamos celebrando la Semana del Reconocimiento a los Maestros, quería reconocer a nuestros padres por su dedicación en la educación de sus hijos mientras que trabajamos a través del aprendizaje a distancia y terminamos el año escolar 2019-20.

Cuando las noticias de la salida salieron a la luz, nuestras familias tuvieron poco o nada de tiempo para prepararse a los desafíos que se avecinaban. El Distrito lanzó Distance Learning Platform (Plataforma de Aprendizaje a Distancia) el lunes después de que se terminó la escuela.

Dear Monrovia Unified Community,

We are now less than a month away from finishing the 2019-20 school year. Though this school year has been vastly different from any of our expectations, our students continue with their studies – thanks, in part, to your active “encouragement.”

Principal Kirk McGinnis sends a message to the Class of 2020!

Pandemic EBT will be available for families to purchase food while schools are closed.

In celebration of the Class of 2020, Monrovia High School will illuminate the stadium field and the Monrovia 'M' on the mountain every Wednesday night leading up to graduation.

Today marks the beginning of Teacher Appreciation Week. Teachers choose, and remain, in this profession because of their belief in education, their love of learning, and their connection to their students.

Dear Parents,

We are in week six of distance learning and we have 5 more weeks until the end of this school year. While the students who are transitioning from 5th grade to middle school, middle school to high school, and high school to post-secondary life, will not have the traditional promotion and graduation activities at the very end of the school year, know that the principals are working with their communities to plan very special promotion and graduation events for the students from each school.

Estimados padres,

Estamos en la sexta semana del aprendizaje a distancia y tenemos 5 semanas más hasta que termine este año escolar. Mientras los estudiantes están haciendo la transición del 5to grado a la escuela secundaria, de la escuela secundaria a la escuela preparatoria y de la escuela preparatoria a la vida después de la preparatoria, no tendrán la promoción tradicional y las actividades de graduación al final del año escolar, sepa que los directores están trabajando con sus comunidades para planear una promoción muy especial y eventos de graduación para los estudiantes de cada escuela.
