Monrovia Unified Reaffirms Commitment to Safe and Welcoming Schools This Summer

Dear Monrovia Unified Families, Staff, Students, and Community Members,

Monrovia Unified School District is fully committed to maintaining safe, supportive, and welcoming campuses throughout the summer.

We understand that recent Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity in the greater Los Angeles area has caused concern among some of our families. News like this can understandably lead to confusion, anxiety, and fear—especially for students planning to attend summer school. Please be assured that we are steadfast in our commitment to protecting the privacy and well-being of every student.

The following protocols and legal protections remain in place during summer school:

  • All visitors, including law enforcement, must check in through the main office at every school site.

  • District policies prohibit the release of confidential student information, including to law enforcement, unless a valid subpoena or court order is provided.

  • We do not collect or share information regarding the immigration status of any student or their family members.

Monrovia Unified will continue to monitor the situation closely, follow state and federal guidance, and work with our legal advisors to ensure full compliance with laws that protect student rights. We want every family in Monrovia Unified to know that our schools are safe spaces where all students belong. Thank you for being a vital part of our Monrovia Unified community.
