Parent Engagement

At Monrovia Unified School District, we believe that strong schools are built on strong partnerships with families. Parent engagement is essential to student success, and we are committed to creating meaningful opportunities for parents and guardians to participate, provide feedback, and collaborate in decision-making across our district. District Advisory Committees

Monrovia Unified hosts two district-level parent advisory groups that help guide programs, funding, and services that benefit all students:

District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC)

Purpose:
The District English Learner Advisory Committee advises the district on programs and services for English Learners. DELAC reviews the English Learner portions of the LCAP, reclassification criteria, language acquisition programs, and parent notification requirements.

How it operates:

Members include elected parent representatives from each school site's ELAC
The majority of members must be parents of current English Learners
Recommendations are shared with the Educational Services Department and Board of Education
Meetings are open to all families and community members

All meetings are held at the District Office Boardroom, 325 E. Huntington Drive, Monrovia, CA 91016, from 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

District Advisory Committee (DAC)

Purpose:
The District Advisory Committee provides input on the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP), district goals, and the use of state and federal funds. The committee represents parents and community members from all school sites.
