DETAILS:

Mayflower Elementary implemented coding into its curriculum to strengthen student preparation for technology-oriented education and career paths. By learning to write code, students develop collaboration and critical-thinking skills. Students work with block-based coding and Javascript, and engage in hands-on programming, robotics and analog activities.

Beginning in kindergarten, students work on projects that allow them to apply the logic of computer science, such as loops, sequence and animation. By second grade, students begin building video games; by fifth grade, students can skillfully combine coding concepts with an integrated story.
