Monrovia Unified Board of Education Approves Secondary Hybrid Model, Reopening of Schools

Commitment forms indicating whether your child(ren) will return for in-person instruction or continue with distance learning will be sent this week through ParentSquare by each school principal. Please note, the commitment to remain in distance learning will apply for the remainder of the school year. Those who return for hybrid instruction may return to distance learning at any time.

In the following days, principals will provide additional information regarding the reopening of secondary schools and what that process will look like.

Our students will be divided into Cohorts A, B, and C, following a three 90-minute block schedule. In-person instruction will take place two days a week for Cohorts A and B, with the remainder of the days completed in distance learning.

  • Cohort A: In-person instruction Monday and Tuesday
  • Cohort B: In-person instruction Thursday and Friday
  • Cohort C: 100% Distance Learning

Cohort assignments will be made to align siblings within the same cohort.

As we move forward with reopening our schools, Monrovia Unified continues to put the health and safety of our students, staff, and families in the forefront of every decision. Our students, teachers, and staff will follow all protocols outlined in our COVID-19 Safety Plan.

Thank you to our Secondary Task Force for their commitment to our students and teachers, and for working tirelessly to develop a schedule that aligns with our Elementary Hybrid Model and meets the needs of our school community.

Since the beginning of distance learning, our District has committed to bringing students back, as soon as it was safe to do so. I am thrilled we are finally at a point that allows our scholars to return to in-person instruction.

Should you have any questions, please contact your school site or email [email protected]

Sincerely,

Dr. Katherine Thorossian,

Superintendent
