A Message from Monrovia Unified Regarding Free Virtual Summer Camp for Students

As we find ways to enjoy our summer break, I want to encourage students and families to explore ways to stay connected to education.

One opportunity is through Wide Open School, which is offering a free virtual summer camp with online and in-person activities for students and families. The camp is offered in English and Spanish, and aims at keeping students active and curious as they transition into the next school year.

The summer camp features arts and music, reading, writing, math, and science activities, virtual field trips, and exploratory videos to learn about the ocean, animals, and national parks.

Wide Open School also features other summer enrichment opportunities:

  • Custom workouts
  • Life skills, including cooking, farming, and COVID-19 practices such as social distancing and hand-washing
  • Emotional well-being lesson plans and videos

Summer enrichment programs are important for our students because they help keep their minds active during the summer months. Monrovia Unified is committed to supporting our students as they strive to reach their full potential, even during the summer. We will continue to provide you with information on opportunities as they arise.

Sincerely,

Dr. Katherine Thorossian

Superintendent
