Public Works - Dept. of Industrial Relations(DIR) Registration Requirement Requirement

California SB854 requires all contractors and subcontractors of any tier intending to bid or perform work on public works projects to be registered with the California Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) and annually renew online for the program. The District will not register a contractor nor collect funds for registration with the DIR. Contractors and subcontractors of any tier submitting bids must be registered.

The requirement to use only registered contractors and subcontractors on public works projects greater than $1,000 applies to all projects awarded on or after April 1, 2015. No bid can be accepted, any contract or subcontract entered into, or purchase order issued without proof that the contractor or subcontractor is registered.

The District will be required to complete a form PWC-100 notifying the DIR of public works projects over $25,000.00 and collect performance and payment bonds from contractors on projects meeting this value.
