Actions Taken by the Board of Education

The Board adopted the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) for the 2023-2024 school year. The Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) gives school districts more flexibility in deciding how to use state funds. In exchange, school districts must work with parents, educators, students, and the community to develop Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) that shows how they will use these funds to serve students.

Board members approved the 2023-24 Adopted Budget for all district funds. Click here to view the adopted budget.

The Board approved the collective Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with the California School Employees Association (CSEA) Chapter 20 to increase the work hours for Bus Driver, Custodian, and Library Technician classifications.

Board members approved the creation of new classified positions at Monrovia Unified. These new positions will play a vital role in improving service to our students, families, community, and staff. The new positions are as follows:

The Board of Education approved a renewal agreement with Elevo for the Village Extended Schools Program. During the 2022-23 school year, Elevo was brought in to help supplement our Village program by providing additional opportunities for students. This renewal for the 2023-24 year will ensure that we are able to continue to serve all interested students and families.

The Board approved an additional Articulation Agreement with Cerritos College, allowing Monrovia High School (MHS) students to earn college credit from Cerritos College upon successful completion of MHS’s Honors Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Principles of Engineering course.

Board members adopted Resolution No. 2223-33 for California Schools Healthy Air, Plumbing, and Efficiency Program (CalSHAPE). The CalSHAPE grant is awarding MUSD $541,260 to help fund projects at multiple school sites. This program provides grants to local educational agencies to fund the assessment, maintenance, and repair of ventilation systems, installation of carbon dioxide monitors, and replacement of noncompliant plumbing fixtures and appliances.

The Board approved an MOU renewal between the Monrovia Unified School District and the City of Monrovia for the School Resource Officer (SRO) program. The SRO will continue to work in a proactive role with students and MUSD officials to counsel and advise the MUSD on important student-police related issues, as well as working on campuses on a daily basis in order to assist students in learning how to deescalate situations or conflicts with both peers and adults.
