Debate Coach and Social Studies teacher, Brandon Equils, exclaimed, "We started this year with only 3 members on the debate team and after some serious recruiting, we were able to take a whopping 17 students on 11/22 to Claremont Mckenna College (15 of them being novice). I am thrilled to share that even though many of them debated for their first time, they did an amazing job and took home a bunch of trophies and medals!" so I'm Caleb Watson I am a 12th grade senior at Monrovia High School and the last tournament that our debate team participated in was the Claremont McKenna College's invitationals and the high school public debate program League and it was a tournament between close to I I believe about 6 schools where we participated in 4 rounds and I was able to score the second place speaker overall award I would say it was definitely um 100% challenging it was definitely a challenging experience that um really tested my um my skill Mr equals is a fantastic coach he definitely knows what he's talking about and teams even commend previous years and Debaters in previous years have always been and in those top leagues and um he's a definitely a decorated coach and 1 of if not the best I've ever seen so our team is packed with novice is they have been doing mock debates every week and they absolutely um showed it at that tournament I would absolutely recommend to be for every Student Admin Roi High School in every student in high school I think it's something that everyone should be given a try whether or not you're in like math and science whether or not you're in Humanities whether or not you're more of an Arts person I think debate is something that is for everyone and it's something that we're everyone can shine no matter how shy higher no matter how nervous you might be debating somewhere where everyone truly has an opportunity to win no matter what no matter their demographic debate is something where everyone can truly win and the results of that are essential no matter what you do in life and no matter who you are
