Early College

Monrovia High School’s Early College Program helps students fulfill university general education requirements while still in high school. Early College students participate in free Citrus College courses on the Monrovia High School campus in grades 9-12 during their first-period classes.

Students take a series of General Education college courses that are transferable to the University of California (UC) System and the California State University (CSU) system earning them both college and high school credit. As a result of their participation, Early College students develop college-level skills that prepare them for an effortless transition after high school.

Early College students save time and money on their college educations because students complete up to two years of college general education requirements while at Monrovia High School.

In 2019, the Monrovia High School Early College Program earned the California School Board Association’s Equity and Access Golden Bell Award for breaking down barriers and granting equitable access to high-quality educational programs.
